This is the designated course for all students who play an orchestral string instrument. Throughout the year, students will participate in various events, including festivals, joint area concerts, and the instrumental department's formal winter and spring concerts.

Color guard combines dance, drama, performance, flags, sabers, and rifles all into one. This outstanding performing group is an intricate part of the marching band. Students enrolled in color guard improve their skills throughout the year and gain experience and may potentially participate in Winter Guard, per auditions. Winter Guard is an indoor Color Guard activity that performs in gyms and arenas. This group practices after school and competes locally on the weekends from January through March.

The fall is spent preparing the half-time show for several competitions throughout October and November. All marching band students are required to participate in all parades, football games, both on the field and in the stands, and competitions. This ensemble also performs a winter and spring concert, in various festivals, and graduation.

Jazz band has several performances throughout the year on campus, at festivals, and throughout the community. Students who play saxophone, trombone, trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, piano, and drumset can be considered for enrollment. Enrollment in this class is by audition or teacher recommendation only. If there is a significant conflict, players may be allowed in jazz band with the approval of the director.

Intermediate band is a class for beginning/intermediate players to relearn or improve their skills on their instrument. This is also an opportunity to learn a second instrument. There may be a couple performances on campus or in the community, but students will not participate in any festivals or competitions in this class. Depending on possible performances, there may be one or two additional rehearsals before or after school, but there is an extremely minimal amount of time and commitment in regards to rehearsals and performances outside of class. (Level 3) if the student is invited to participate in marching band.

Music Elements is an opportunity for students to learn basic music theory and apply that knowledge through performance. Students will work through uTheory coursework and demonstrate their understanding utilizing an instrument of their choice. This is a great avenue for students who are interested in learning to play an instrument for the first time.
